EVERETT — Nicholas Jamieson, who turned 19 on Saturday, is a home-schooled Marysville student who is finishing his second year in the diesel mechanics program at the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center in south Everett. I was able to start in the diesel industry by 16. Q: Where do you work. I work as a mechanic on diesel trucks. I started there as an apprentice at 16. I go to work in the afternoon from 12 to 5 p. m. It is real life. Q: How did you end up interested in diesel mechanics. I've always learned a lot from him. I've always been interested (in mechanics). A: When I was 16, I attended a Sno-Isle Tech open house. I wanted to be a part of it. I love working on trucks, learning the industry standards. Q: So what you are learning in school applies at work. I am able to apply what I learn here at work. I was very, very excited to learn what (teacher) Brent (Delfel) taught and to apply it and to run with it. Q: Do you know what you are doing next year. They offer a diesel program that is excellent. (The company invests directly into the school's labs to make sure the graduates are ready to work on the manufacturer's diesel equipment. ) Q: I understand you just won a big state competition.   Reliable old girl

  Pros: "Fun, useful, capable, all aroud TRUCK"

  "I have had my Ram since 1997 and she's been a reliable girl ever since day one. I started with a base model truck and slowly customized it continually over the years. She has been reliable both in city driving and I can run mine at 50mph over open desert. That's with nothing more than a hotter than stock 360 in it and 35" tires and a 3" suspension lift. All the rest of the suspension is stock and you wouldn't think it would hold up to that kind of abuse but it has never show problems with the suspension. I have managed to damage her many times over the years but she still does what she need to do from hauling cargo to towing to just having a blast. If you have any further questions about how tough she is, mine was used by my teen aged son from 2011-2013 while he was in High School before he joined the Marines and you can imagine how tough that was on her. In fact he even admitted to me that he had her above 100mph once going downhill in the mountains... and this is with that lift and those big 35" desert meat tires. If you find one that's not already beat to death it's totally a truck worth having for a little work or fun."

  "I bought this truck from the original owner at 185000 miles. I've had to replace most all of the steering parts as that is a known problem area with these trucks. Other than that this has been a very reliable truck. I tow a 12k lb fifth wheel with it and it pulls it with very little trouble over mountain passes. Overall it's a great truck for what it was intended for. Towing and hauling loads."

  "Owned this vehicle since new. Have had to replace both front and rear bumpers due to rust. Transmissions been slipping for 20000 miles, air just quit working. The 5.2 liter isn't nearly enough power for a truck this size. I have babied this thing since I bought it and lots of upkeep. Rusting like mad no matter I wax it every single year. I have a Toyota highlander with 126,000 miles and not one problem."

  First Dodge I have owned and have been truly impressed with every thing about this truck. Minor maintenance, but no big issues. Cummins diesel 5.9 L is great for hauling with plenty of power to go around. On road trips set the Cruise on 65 mph and enjoy the fuel economy! Got 25 mpg on my last road trip. Enjoy this one so much that I bought the same year make & model but a 3500 with all the same features. Love this one just as much. Can't say enough about this vehicle.

  big seating area. comfortable seats. easy to reach console. rear jump seat area great for my dog to ride.

  Worst Features

  need better way to access headlights, they are hard to change.
