Alec Humbach crashed at South 300 West and Bob Barton Road when his 1996 Toyota Tacoma was hit by a 2002 Hyundai Elantra that failed to stop at the stop sign on South 300 West shortly before 7:50 p. m. Humbach died at the scene, police said. “He was an amazing young man with a kind heart and a kind soul,” said Dawn Soto, Humbach’s aunt. Along with Martinez, Dakota Cortez, 19, and a 15-year-old were in the Hyundai. Idaho State Police said the three passengers of the Hyundai were wearing their seat belts, but Humbach was not. “We can’t believe he wasn’t wearing a seat belt because he was always very safe, but we do know the truck was old and faulty,” Soto said. The 15-year-old was taken by paramedics to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Martinez and Cortez were taken by paramedics to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center.
