The Typhoon is the SUV spawn of GMC’s hardcore 1991 Syclone pickup , based on the Jimmy rather than Sonoma. Under the hood, the Typhoon and Syclone pack a turbocharged and intercooled Vortec 4. 3-liter V6 paired to a four-speed automatic and Borg Warner torque-splitting all-wheel-drive system. The setup produced 280 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, which could shift the SyTy’s masses from zero to 60 mph in less than five and a half seconds and through the quarter mile in 14. 1. That wasn’t just quick for an SUV or pickup, it was... There was a trade off between the two however – the lighter weight Syclone was a teeny bit faster, but the Typhoon was arguably more practical and could accept two more friends in the back seat. Of the 4,697 Typhoons that rolled off GMC’s production line in 1992 and 1993, only 132 came dressed in the blue hue (only offered in ’92). This Typhoon was one of them. Local man killed in Saturday wreck - The Daily Statesman

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trennis J. Talley, 36, was northbound on Highway C, two miles south of Poplar Bluff at 2:20 a. m. when his 1999 Toyota Celica ran off the roadway and overturned. Talley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, and was ejected from the car. on Friday, Charley D. Riddell, 27, of Malden sustained minor injuries in a wreck on Rt. MM, four miles east of Malden. Riddell was a passenger in a westbound 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Jacob D. Ellingson of Ellisnore, who failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound 1992 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. All three individuals involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. Two hours later on Friday afternoon, three subjects in 1999 Chevrolet Camaro sustained minor injuries in a wreck on Highway 25 at Route E in Bloomfield. According to the patrol, Gary Gramlisch, 39, of Chaffee, was southbound in the Camaro and was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection when he was struck from behind by a 2012 Dodge Charger driben by Matthew W. Cash, 32, of Bloomfield. Injured in the wreck were Gramlisch, along with two of his passengers, 15-year-old Katelyn N. Gibson of Chaffee and Diane L. Scholl, 62, of Scott City. Whereas the Syclone got its bones from the Sonoma pickup, the Typhoon ported the Syclone’s powertrain over to the two-door Jimmy. GMC shuttered a second year of production, and found greener pastures with the Typhoon SUV. It commanded an even higher ask of $29,700, but netted 4,697 SUV-crazed buyers between 1992 and ’93.   The body has some dents and scrapes but nothing serious, the interior is in excellent condition. I have kept seat covers over the seats since I got the truck. It is an extended cab with two individual rear seats, it's a manual transmission with no problems.
