Saab returns from the ashes, NEVS reopens plant in Trollhättan to build new 9 ... - eGMCarTech

With rumors circulating the return Saab returning to the game, many of us wondered if such a revival would occur. There were hints that the Swedish automaker was on its way to rising from the ashes with what seemed to be official pictures of an all-new Saab 9-3. Additionally, after General Motors was forced to liquidate and Saab was sold to National Electric... Now, an official press release has been issued from National Electric Vehicle Sweden, which confirmed the reopening of Saab’s production line in Trollhättan with a statement from NEVS’s president, Mattias Bergman. According to those past rumors and reports, Saab and NEVS were working on two 9-3 sedans to mark the Saab’s revival into the automotive playground, one gas, and one with an alternative electric powerttrain. “I am pleased that today we have assembled our first car to verify all the production processes here in Trollhättan. Prior to our decision to start production of Saab cars, we need to finalize a few remaining dialogues to build partnerships with suppliers. I have owned many Saabs personally from an early two stroke Sonett through 900’s and 9000’s to a late 93.
