Mustang, F-100, & Falcon - One Reader's 1965-1970 Fords - Hot Rod Network

I was born and raised a Ford man. When I was growing up my Dad preferred Falcons (we had three at one time) as well as a 1965 F-100 and a 1961 Galaxie Starliner. When it came time to purchase my first car, there was a 1970 Mach I in my hometown that I had eyed all through high school. I informed him I was a Ford fanatic and that I wanted to buy his Mustang. Come to find out that half of my hometown had tried to purchase the Mach I with no success, including my dad. I still own the car and am getting close to starting the process of getting it back on the road. Other than putting in a new 351C four-barrel (still have the original) and rebuilding the transmission, I have done no other work to it. In 2013 I decided it was time for a pickup. I limited the era I wanted to the "slicks" from 1965 and 1966. Second requirement was that I wanted a 4x4, manual steering, manual brakes, and four-on-the-floor. Our son was approaching driving age, and I told him he was going to learn to drive "old school. Interestingly enough, my dad knew the first two owners, as it spent most of its life near where he lived. All of my kids come out to help work on it. It gives me an opportunity to teach the kids how to work on vehicles. Source: www.hotrod.com

Philip Kaufman brought Tom Wolfe's book The Right Stuff to the big screen in 1983, onscreen astronauts were little more than alien quarry or asteroid bait. In Kaufman's hands, however, spaceflight became a far more human pursuit—a story not of external threats but inner resolve. With its three-hour-plus run time and unconventional structure, the film—which tells the story of test pilots like Chuck Yeager and Gordon Cooper as they break the sound barrier and launch toward the exosphere—was almost as daring as its subject.
