1972 Motion Moray C3 Corvette Is Literally One-Of-One: eBay Find - GM Authority (blog)

The 1972 C3 Corvette is literally one-of-one, with no other production vehicle like it. Motion Performance was a hopping speed shop in the late 1960s, performing work on many Camaros, Novas and Chevelles. Even other Corvettes passed through the hands of Motion Performance. One man, a Dan Hayes, actually purchased the rarity on eBay for a mere $30,000 in 2006. Now, it’s asking price has reached $600,000. The 1972 Motion C3 Corvette has been crafted with different portions of Motion Performance kits. A Motion Shark kit resides up front with a clamshell hood, while the rear comes from a Motion Manta Ray kit with custom glass and spoiler. As for power, the factory LS5 454 still resides under the hood, rated at 475 hp. The looks may be somewhat polarizing, and yellow may not be your favorite cooler, but the 1972 Motion Moray C3 Corvette shines as a 1970s bright spot for rare Corvettes. Source: gmauthority.com

During this time, Detroit still dared to dream inside the iconic design dome. And concepts like the 1972 Buick Silver Arrow III were born. Designed by the great Harley Earl ‘s successor, Bill Mitchell, Mitchell was responsible for influencing 72. 5 million vehicle produced by General Motors during his tenure. That includes the Buick Riviera , which the 1972 Silver Bullet III is based. The 1972 Silver Bullet III featured a sleeker, hunkered down profile compared to the Riviera of the time. The car sat as a design concept, but was also a testimony to GM engineering , too. The 1972 Silver Bullet III featured six halogen headlamps in the front for greater night time visibility, coupled with four-wheel disc brakes. The Silver Bullet III now resides at the General Motors Heritage Center , where it sits in pristine condition as part of the center’s collection. A torch for the late Bill Mitchell era, who crafted class in changing times that was the 1970s automotive industry. And one was Al Arbour. “He was the toughest competitor, most courageous player I ever coached,” Bowman said. Arbour will battle, as he did as a defenseman for the Blues, as he did throughout a career in which he has been with teams that won the Stanley Cup eight times, representing four cities. At one time, the Blues had Bowman as their general manager and Arbour as their coach. Bowman turned the coaching duties over to Arbour at the start of the 1970-71 season. When the team faltered — in part because of Arbour’s absence on defense — he put the skates back on and Bowman returned to the bench. Stanley Cup finalists in three previous seasons, the Blues lost to Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs. Arbour was restored as head coach, but ownership never believed in his promise. “They said Al is a good sergeant, but he’s not a general,” said Bowman, who championed Arbour as his successor. “That’s exactly what they told me. ”. The Blues had no time for “sergeants,” but the New York Islanders did.
