Hot rods cruise Main Street for annual Longmont showcase - Longmont Times-Call

A 1940s-model Chevrolet pickup cruised down Main Street blaring the Righteous Brothers, while the driver of an old orange Mustang revved his engine and families in lawn chairs cheered as a trio of chromed-out motorcycles rolled by, even more... It was that time of year again in Longmont, when some 250 owners of the rarest, oldest, most colorful vehicles in the area show off their prized possessions during the Main Street Cruise Night, as part of the 45th annual ColoRODans of Longmont Rod... New and old, motorcycles, everything," Berthoud's Jim Coleman says with a wide grin from the bed of his 1953 Ford F100 pickup. Coleman could have made a good ambassador for the event: white, male, getting up there in age and nervous about telling his wife how much cash he's sunk into the car. Jeff Seacrest of Longmont trotted out his red 1939 Ford Standard Coupe, and expressed a similar fear of spousal judgment. "We're trying to get younger guys involved, because us older guys are fading by the wayside," Seacrest says. "The young kids, all they care about it video games and Nissans and all that. The 1953 Ford F100 designed by Chip Foose is not as radically designed as the American muscle cars designed by Foose for WD40 and SEMA Cares over the past three years but that doesn’t make this vintage pickup and less cool. Unlike the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and F350 Super Duty that wear wild paint schemes that are...
