Car show roars through downtown Millville - Vineland Daily Journal

The 25th annual Downtown Car Show presented by the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce and The Cruisin' Classics Auto Club attracted more than 300 participants and thousands of spectators. "The weather is fantastic," said Tony Sceia, president of the Cruisin' Classics Auto Club. "It's the perfect weather to come out and have fun with your classic car. This was the first year the Cruisin' Classics club presented the show. It had been organized by the Garden State 50s Auto Club for the previous 24 years. Cars stretched down both sides of High Street from Main Street to Broad Street and spilled into a few of the side streets in between. Car enthusiasts weaved between the shiny collectable automobiles to admire powerful engines and precision detailing as owners swapped restoration stories. Paul Schwegel of Millville shared stories about his 1950 Ford F-1 Pickup. "I wish this was my car, but my parts on the way," he said. This year was only the second time that Jack Roesly of Cedarville attended the Millville car show, and he was pleased with his experience. Le temps de douze Grands Prix de formule 1, de 1966 à 1967, pour un meilleur classement – une 8e place au Grand Prix d'Allemagne 1967 – qui lui avait permis de récolter son seul et unique point. Souvent en difficulté sur les autres courses disputées, le natif de Vichy avait alors décidé de quitter la formule 1 à la fin de la saison. Son pilote-fétiche était alors Jacques Laffite, qui a remporté six GP de F1 dans des Ligier bleues portant toutes les initiales JS pour Jo Schlesser, un grand ami de Ligier, et équipées de moteurs Matra ou Ford-Cosworth. Laffite a apporté à son écurie sa première victoire lors du Grand Prix de Suède en 1977, la première 100 % française (voiture/moteur/pilote) depuis 1950. Le pilote parisien remportera cinq autres victoires au cours de sa carrière chez Ligier... C'est aussi dans une Ligier, mais équipée d'un moteur Mugen-Honda, qu'Olivier Panis a remporté en 1996 le GP de Monaco, sa seule victoire en F1, la dernière d'une Ligier dans la catégorie.
