You could most certainly be in Kansas when driving it. You could most certainly not be in Paris. It's the F-150 full-size pickup truck, and it has been made by the Ford Motor Company, in one form or another, since 1948. Ford has two sets of wheels that are so critical to its destiny that to mess with them is to challenge a cheerful future in... The other is the F-150. Ford did recently mess with the F-150, redesigning it and re-engineering its manufacture to use more lightweight aluminum. Why would they do it. And what would happen if they screwed up. A strategic decision The first question is easy to answer. Several years ago, Ford looked at a world in which gas prices were rising and government regulations on fuel efficiency were becoming more demanding. The second question was answered recently when I had the chance to spend a week with the new truck. I'm not sure that Ford improved the F-150. But it 100% didn't screw it up. The new F-150 is very much a FULL-SIZE truck. It fills its space and fills it with an undeniable swagger, in its way more impressive than a Cadillac Escalade or a Lincoln Navigator — the large-and-in-charge American SUV-o-saurs. Motor racing author Michael Argetsinger dies at 70 - FOXSports.com

WATKINS GLEN, N. Y. (AP) Michael R. Argetsinger, a founder of the International Motor Racing Research Center and an award-winning motorsports author, has died. Argetsinger was a member of the steering committee that in 1997 began planning for the Racing Research Center, an archival and research library dedicated to the preservation of the history of motorsports. ''Michael was a wonderful man, friend and passionate supporter of all things motor racing and particularly, Watkins Glen,'' said former open-wheel driver Bobby Rahal, chairman of the research center's governing council. Argetsinger was the son of the late Cameron Argetsinger, who started the road-racing tradition at Watkins Glen in 1948 and brought Grand Prix racing to Watkins Glen for 20 years beginning in the early 1960s. Confederate flags are as easy to find at NASCAR races as cutoff jeans, cowboy hats and beer. They are regular fixtures, just like Ford and Chevrolet, and that is unlikely to change any time soon. Nikki Haley's call to remove the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds in the wake of the Charleston church massacre. NASCAR issued its statement Tuesday, the same day South Carolina lawmakers agreed to discuss removing the flag and one day after Haley said ''the time has come'' to take it down. ''As our industry works collectively to ensure that all fans are welcome at our races, NASCAR will continue our long-standing policy to disallow the use of the Confederate flag symbol in any official NASCAR capacity,'' NASCAR said. ''While NASCAR recognizes that freedom of expression is an inherent right of all citizens, we will continue to strive for an inclusive environment at our events. , NASCAR'S sister company that owns a majority of the tracks, echoed the sanctioning body's response. ''We join NASCAR in support of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley's position on the Confederate flag,'' ISC President John Saunders said in a statement. ''ISC strives to ensure all fans are welcome to enjoy our events and maintains an inclusive environment at our facilities nationwide.
