This generation of C-Class came with rear-wheel drive, but C300 models can be equipped with Mercedes’... This body style came with two engine options: a C250 model that used the 1. 8-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, or the 3. 5-liter V6. In 2014, the C350 could be equipped with all-wheel drive. In 2012, a 1. 8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine was introduced to the U. S. market with 201 HP. The rear-wheel drive C300 was also dropped in that model year, making it all-wheel-drive only. All models used a seven-speed transmission, although a six-speed manual was available briefly with the C300 and C300 4Matic. The recalled cars include the 2008-'11 Mercedes-Benz C300, C300 4Matic, C350 and C63 AMG. Owners will be notified of the recall starting in June, but parts are not expected to arrive at dealerships until August or September. WASHINGTON — Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 252,867 2008-'11 Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars for possible dimming or failure of the taillights, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recalled cars include the 2008-'11 Mercedes-Benz C300, C300 4Matic, C350 and C63 AMG. The affected C-Class cars were built from January 26, 2007 through July 13, 2011. Christian Bokich, a Mercedes-Benz spokesman, told Edmunds there are no injuries, crashes or fatalities linked to the recall. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372. Just the Facts: NHTSA has opened a probe into 218,000 2008-'09 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans after complaints of taillight failures. Federal safety regulators say they have received 21 complaints from consumers alleging rear lighting failures in the brake and/or turn signals of the 2008-'09 C-Class. One consumer reported seeing "small flames emanating from the rear lamp connector when the trunk was opened," said NHTSA in a posting on its Web site on Monday. Federal safety regulators say they have received 21 complaints from consumers alleging rear lighting failures in the brake and/or turn signals of the 2008-'09 C-Class. "Consumers allege a loss of one or more rear lamp assemblies possibly due to an overheated electric connector that, in some cases, resulted in melting, smoke or a fire," said NHTSA in its problem description. "The failure can cause the lights to dim or cause the lights to not illuminate at all," said NHTSA. "The reports typically indicate the failure is with the lamp connector, with many indicating a burnt and/or melted condition of the electrical components.
