2015 Toyota Tacoma best mid-size pickup value – Vincentric - Torque News

When GM decided to rejoin the smaller than full-size pickup market this past year automotive publications (this one included) posed the situation as win-lose for Toyota, the clear leader in sales in the segment. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon have spurred Toyota to improve their Tacoma, but according to Vincentric, even without these welcome changes the Tacoma is still the best value in the segment. The 2015 Toyota Tacoma starts off with one huge advantage. Tacoma earned the number one spot for resale value. That makes it a very tough vehicle to beat value-wise, but it could be done if the Tacoma had high maintenance costs. Like all Toyotas, the Tacoma comes with the first two years of maintenance at no added cost. Vincentric – Tacoma Best Value. Vincentric named the Toyota brand the best value for passenger cars, the Lexus brand took top place in luxury, and Chevrolet was named “Best truck brand. ” We won’t argue that Chevy didn’t deserve the win, but in the four truck categories Chevy only won one. Toyota’s Tacoma was named the best value by Vincentric in the Mid-size segment. 2015 Lexus LX570: Ike Gauntlet Extreme Towing Review [Video] - The Fast Lane

The engine power may be similar to its competitors but the brakes and transmission strength could be weaker. The brakes would cook and half ton trucks were notorious for transmission problems when towing heavy weight. Actually, those half ton transmissions from the seventies and early eighties were downright brutal, as memory serves. Three generations of my family have owned half-ton trucks, mostly Chevrolet. This is especially the case with the Hydra-Matic TH350 transmissions in the early 70’s GM trucks. I think the reason that half-tons can tow more now is because of suspension tweaks. My dad’s 2003 silverado half-ton had a lot of sag and sway when towing, but his 2013 silverado has no such sag or trailer sway. I own both the LX and an LC, I do believe the LC handles trailers slightly better then the LX. I think it all resides in the different suspension designs between them. I can tell you having owned many of the full size body on frame SUVs over the years, these 200 series LX/LC sisters are some of my all time favorite SUVs. They are just flat out better engineered and built then any I have ever owned. One of mine has over 50,000 miles on it, and it is just as tight, solid and quite as my other one with only 15,000 miles on it.
