Mandan Owns State Legion Baseball Titles, 1990, 1965 - Mandan News

25 Years Ago – 1990. More than 2,000 people attended the state class AA baseball championship game at Mandan’s Memorial Park where the Mandan Chiefs met the Jamestown Eagles in the final game of the season. It was the best turnout in 20 years, and Mandan fans were rewarded with a state title, the first time since 1970. The Chiefs’ last entry in the state tourney was in 1975. In game one, Mandan was up against the state defending champion Fargo who... Then with two outs, catcher Todd Boehm hit Wick home for Mandan’s 4th RBI and final run of the game, ending with a 4-1 victory. In game two against the Bismarck Governors, pitcher Dave Kloster went seven innings, before Jason “Jake” Meyhoff came in to hand Kloster a 4-3 win after striking out 5 of 6 in the last two innings. Finally, Mandan had to play the Jamestown Eagles twice for the title, and won both games, 6-3. Meyhoff teamed up with cool-handed catcher Todd Boehm and struck out 17 Jamestown Eagles in the championship game of the state tourney. This championship was also a “first” for Mandan’s Coach Owen Stockdill. After nine years as coach for the A’s, Stockdill took over for Joe Warner this year. 50 Years Ago – 1965. In 1989, Dodge decided that they didn’t have to, and worked a deal with ASC (American Sunroof Company) to turn their Dakota workhorses into… well…headless horsemen. Dodge shipped its completed Dakotas over to ASC, which then set about sawing off the roof and adding a vinyl rag top and roll-bar in its place. For 1989, Dakota Convertibles came equipped with the V6 as standard, the option of two- or four-wheel drive, and either a five-speed manual or four-speed auto (four-cylinders came in ’90). While definitely cool looking, they weren’t exactly hot... Dodge moved 2,842 Dakota Convertibles in 1989, a scant 1,089 in 1990, and only eight in 1991. Driver identified in fatal crash on Ohio 547 - Norwalk Reflector

The Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred at 9:57 a. m. on Ohio 547 just west of Section Line Road 30 in Sherman Township. A 1990 Dodge Dakota was going east bound on SR 547 near Section Line Road 30. The Dakota went left of center and stuck a west bound 1999 Kenworth Straight Truck head-on. After impact, the Kenworth went off the north side of SR 547 and overturned, coming to rest on its top. The Dodge came to rest on the south edge of SR 547. The driver of the 1990 Dodge truck was identified as Scott A. Reilly, 38, of Bellevue. Dahm sustained minor injuries and was transported by North Central EMS to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated and released. The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, the Huron River Joint Fire District, North Central EMS, the Bellevue Fire Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Huron River send 13 men and three trucks to the scene, while Bellevue had seven men and two trucks. "Doug (assistant chief) Long and I have been around the longest and we agreed it was the worst entrapment we have ever seen," said Huron River Joint Fire District Fire Chief Tom Beck.
