"Recently we've caught the updated Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickups out on their first test runs. … We caught a pair of 2016 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty prototypes (one crew-cab 2500 near maximum payload and towing capacity, and the other an empty chassis-cab Duramax) coming in from a run. "Much like the light-duty trucks we've seen before, the Sierra looks to be hiding a moderate front-end refresh, with a new front end, hood cuts, a revised grille and updated headlights. "We suspect the bigger news is under the hood, where the GM HD trucks are reported to get upgraded versions of the Duramax V-8 turbo-diesel. "A version of the 10-speed transmission co-developed with Ford is also likely to make it into the heavy-duty pickups by 2018. ". I think the truck makers should follow the new SUV concept of making the front bumpers into a skid plate. I would also like to see a transformed truck bed such as a bed that can be expanded in length or the side of the bed that folds down as a flat bed. I personally lost that new truck excitement, no new truck excites me anymore and I believe I am not alone. The truck makers spend too much time in changes to the looks of the truck but we all know its the same truck underneath it all, but make its practicable, useable, give us something new that makes sense. Chrysler Recalls 566000 Ram, Durango, Grand Cherokee Models - Car and Driver (blog)

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango have airbag modules that can short-circuit due to a manufacturing defect on the circuit board. As a result, the front airbags, side airbags and seat belt pretensioners could be disabled. Chrysler said it noticed a higher defect rate for these airbag modules in January and July last year. 5 of this year, Chrysler said, it had received 2558 warranty claims for this airbag issue. A total of 126,722 vehicles are affected in the U. S. Dealers will replace the airbag module starting in December. Most of these same vehicles are affected by a separate recall concerning another circuit board that controls the stability control. On 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks equipped with the 6. 7-liter Cummins diesel, an electrical connector on the fuel heater assembly can overheat. As of September, Chrysler said it had recorded 233 warranty claims for this issue, which was apparently due to corrosion of the tin-plated connector terminals. Since the Ram Mega Cab is only available with the shorter 6-foot, 4-inch cargo bed, owners looking for the cargo capacity of the longer 8-foot bed (only available in regular or crew cab form) can only resort to a custom long-bed conversion, which... The concept is based on a Ram 5500 Chassis commercial truck, which is class 5 rated and one step up from the 2500 and 3500 1-ton pickups. Equipment includes a fifth-wheel tailgate, 19. 5-inch Alcoa wheels and a Kelderman self-leveling air suspension at all four corners to help keep the truck nice and level. The 162 gallon-fuel capacity is achieved by two additional fuel tanks on top of to standard 52-gallon tank: a 60-gallon tank placed in between the cab and the bed and 50-gallon tank that sits in the bed. Rounding off the long hauler is the Laramie Longhorn trim available on most Rams, which means passengers are treated with such niceties as leather seating with heating and ventilation, automatic climate control and premium sound.
