4 injured in Calvert County Jeep crash - W*USA 9

LEONARD, Md. (WUSA9) -- Four people were injured after a Jeep left the road in Calvert County and crashed into a tree, Calvert County Sheriff's office said. The 1999 Jeep Cherokee ran off the road and hit a tree. The Jeep was going west on Calvert Beach Rd when it did not make a sweeping left turn on the road. Officials say, the Jeep crossed the center line, went into the west bound lane and left the road briefly. The Jeep then went back onto the road and started rotating in a clockwise direction. The Jeep then went across both lanes of the road and left the road on the eastbound side. According to officials, the Jeep struck a tree and continued to rotate around the tree. Makayla Lee Burkman, 18, of Port Republic, Md, who was the driver of the car, was pinned in the Jeep. The other three occupants in the Jeep all had non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. They have been identified as Tyler James Fortney, 19, of St. Leonard, Md. , Catherine Jordan Findley, 18, of Prince Frederick, Md. and Kyle Nicholas Hooper, 18, Prince Frederick, Md.
