Jeep has reportedly let slip key performance details of the Grand Cherokee Hellcat/Trackhawk at its annual dealer event in Las Vegas - including its all-important standing-start sprint time: 0-96km/h in a blistering 3. 5 seconds. That's 60mph in the ye olde units that Americans prefer, so you can safely add a few tenths of a second for the equivalent 0-100km/h time. But even if you add over half a second (unlikely), it still means this American brute will be the fastest SUV on the planet. Faster than the BMW X5 M (4. 2s 0-100km/h), faster than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (4. 5s 0-100km/h). It's also just as fast as its sedan sister, the Dodge Charger Hellcat (below). Both are equipped with the same 6. 2 litre supercharged V8 and both churn out a collossal 527kW and 881Nm, but the Grand Cherokee's AWD helps it overcome its higher kerb weight and keep up with its lighter RWD stablemate.
