The R-Class was built at the Mercedes plant in Vance, starting with the 2006 model year. The Vance plant, Mercedes-Benz U. S. International, is in the process of moving the R-Class production to AM General, a contracted manufacturer near South Bend, Ind. com said returning the sale of the R-Class to international markets is being considered because of the resurgence of interest in luxury SUVs and crossovers.
