NOS Lucas Contact Set (points) 54413568. These points are the same as the ubiquitous 423153 points used in 22D, 23D, & 25D distributors but have a stronger blade spring (32oz vice 18/24oz) and were intended for use in higher RPM engines. Lucas info has these points in the Mini Cooper S, Ford Cortina, and Lotus Elan. They can replace 423153 points, but with a higher spring pressure at the distributor cam / rubbing block. So if you are experiencing points bounce at high RPM these could help. Some information says these were used as 'competition' points in MGs, TRs, etc, probably because the higher tension on the points keeps them stable at racing RPMs.
Note that these 2-piece points are for original 'long' pivot post on the baseplate used up through around 1972, so check your distributor carefully. "1 81" on the box indicates made in January 1981.
OEM quality: phenolic rubbing block, proper spring steel blade and large, well-secured contacts. The phenolic rubbing block is durable and heat resistant. Aftermarket replacement points usually use plastic and may wear faster and be susceptible to distortion with excess heat. All of the correct fitment bits are in the box.
Listed are some of the distributors & cars that originally used these points per Lucas reference material. Please check your distributor as it could have been 'upgraded' to a later type , in which case these points will not work.
