Red Land High School student dies in Fairview Township crash - York Daily Record/Sunday News

Speed may have contributed to a Sunday night crash in Fairview Township that claimed the life of Emily Groft, a 17-year-old Red Land High School senior, according to a police news release. Emily, 17, of Lewisberry, was expected to start school on Tuesday, when all of the West Shore School District schools opened, said Ryan Argot, director of federal programs for the district. It was the third fatal crash in York County two days, following motorcycle crashes on Saturday in Loganville and early Sunday in Jackson Township. District Superintendent Todd Stoltz, in a news release, said the district was saddened to hear of Emily's death. The driver of the vehicle, Brooke Livering, 19, was headed south on Big Spring Road near Elder Trail in Fairview Township about 9:17 p. m. when she lost control on a curve and struck a tree, Fairview Township Police said. Emily, was wearing her seat belt in the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse, but died in the crash, police said. Friends remember Devin Farrar, a 2014 graduate of Red Land High School, remembered Emily, a close friend, as someone who had a smile on her face all of the time. Source: www.ydr.com
