A 19-year man was killed and three more people were injured when two cars collided in the Rockaways late Wednesday, police said. A blue 2005 Nissan 350Z was speeding westbound on Beach Channel Drive in Belle Harbor when it lost control and veered into oncoming traffic at about 11:25 p. m. , authorities said. That’s when a gray 2006 Kia Spectra 5 T-boned the Nissan’s passenger's side near Beach 127th St. , officials said. Geovanni Balverdy, who was in the Nissan’s passenger seat, was rushed to St. John's Episcopal Hospital but could not be saved, police said. The Nissan's driver, also 19, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Susan Rosen, 64, who lives at the intersection where the crash occurred, said she knew the situation was grave when she saw firefighters tearing the cars apart. Source: www.nydailynews.com
