Chicago's 'Fast and Furious' underground drag racing scene - Daily Mail
Deep beneath the streets of Chicago, hundreds of teens and twenty-somethings gather on weekends to watch cars rev, race and drift in the city's real-life fast and furious scene. In a place hidden two levels below traffic on Lower Wacker Drive, drivers have flaunted their Mustangs and home-built engines for the last decade. Drivers hang out windows and circle one another, screeching through tight turns, while others see who can reach the top speed, as car lovers watch and record from the sidelines. Drivers say the underground scene in Chicago is growing through word of mouth and Facebook, where there are pages dedicated to the action on Wacker and other locations around the city, according to the Chicago Tribune. Most gatherings are broken up by police, when squad cars circle around to clear the area. Streets all over the city have hosted drag racing over the years, but the area near the pound below Lower Wacker Drive is the most well-known and most attended area. 'I was walking across the street and two cars lined up. Someone said line them up and I just lined them up,' Jackson told the Tribune. 'They kept coming, I kept lining them up and they kept racing. And for me, there's something about the risk of me actually hitting something,' he said. Source: www.dailymail.co.uk
