Nissan Buyers, Pay Attention: 2013 Rogue Renamed 2014 Rogue Select - The Car Connection
But most of those pale in comparison to a release that Nissan has issued involving the 2013 Nissan Rogue. If you're a fan of Nissan's popular compact crossover, you already know that the Rogue has been redesigned for the 2014 model year. Normally, the old Rogue -- the one from model year 2013 and earlier -- would be discontinued, with the remaining inventory sold off, sometimes at deep discounts. But in a very strange move, Nissan has announced plans to continue sales of the 2013 model, which will be renamed the "Rogue Select". Thus, as of November, Nissan shoppers will be able to buy the 2014 Rogue (i. e. the new one) or the 2014 Rogue Select (i. e. the old one). Why would Nissan do such a thing. Nissan's Fred Diaz simply states that the "Rogue Select will allow Nissan to continue its strong performance in the segment, which will only get stronger once the all-new, U. S. -built 2014 Rogue goes on sale. The 2014 Rogue Select will be manufactured in Kyushu, Japan, where it's been built for years. For the all-new 2014 Rogue, however, production will be shifted halfway across the globe, to Nissan's facility in Smyrna, Tennessee. That changeover could be causing hiccups -- hiccups that could potentially put the brakes on the Rogue's robust sales, which are up about 16 percent over 2012.
