The annual car show and festival on the Goodwood Estate features a hill climb event around a 1. 16-mile course through the estate grounds, with vehicles of all makes and sizes taking part. Once again, NASCAR has a big presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with names like Petty and Earnhardt taking part in the event. Making the trip to Lord March's estate for the third time, Richard Petty climbed behind the wheel of one of his most iconic cars, the Petty Blue No. 43 1970 Plymouth Superbird. "I wanted people to see the car and appreciate it. We had a lot of people waving and smiling, so I think they had as much fun as I did. One of the most iconic cars in NASCAR history, the festival requested Petty bring the 1970 Superbird to the event this year. The younger generation come up to me and say, 'Hey, that's the car that was in the movie, Cars. ' So, it's a pretty popular car for us and it's neat to see all the excitement around it. ".
