Pickup crashes into Chick-fil-A - Anderson Independent Mail
ANDERSON - Tuesday marked the second time this summer a vehicle has driven into the dining area at the Chick-fil-A on East Greenville Street in Anderson. Around 7 p. m. , Joyce Kay, 70, of Pelzer, drove her Toyota Tundra pickup from a handicap parking space through a large window at the front of the building when she confused the gas and brake pedals, she said. “I don’t know what happened,” said Kay, who was consoled by family members. Kay drove her truck only a few feet into the restaurant, leaving the bed of the pickup pokking out onto the walkway. Shattered glass, wood and stone littered the dining area as Anderson city firefighters tried to figure out how to remove the truck. As of Tuesday night, no charges had been filed, said Anderson police Lt. Tony Tilley. It happened just like that,” Travis Chapman said. Karen Sullivan, chief public relations officer for the Chick-fil-A restaurants in Anderson, said the damage to the building was worse Tuesday. She said repairs will be made quickly, and the damaged part of the dining area should open again in a couple of days. “We’re just thankful no one was seriously hurt,” Sullivan said.
