2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum CrewMax review notes - AutoWeek
EDITOR WES RAYNAL: Somebody in the office quipped that if you want to know how good the new Chevrolet Silverado is, drive the new Toyota Tundra . I don't think the Tundra is a bad truck per se, but it's not as good as the Silverado. Mostly that's down to little refinement details. I like the Toyota's refresh. The interior is huge front and rear and while the materials themselves could use an upgrade, the interior is well assembled and comfort levels are there. Toyota says this beast can tow more than 10,000 pounds, and I have no reason to doubt it. On the road, one thing that stood out to me was that the brakes felt a little grabby or touchy, but that could have been due to the weather and the awful... So back to the refinement: The Silverado just has that little bit more: The Chevy's (or GMC's) chassis feels a lot stiffer, while the Tundra jiggles a little and shudders over road imperfections more than the Silverado. The Silverado's cabin has better materials, and it's a lot quieter out on the freeway than the Toyota in terms of wind noise. Like I said, little details push the Silverado beyond the Toyota. I'd bet there's probably no automotive category with customer loyalty/return customer levels like the full-size pickup market. Seems to me you're a Chevy guy, a Ram guy , a Ford F-150 guy…That's what you buy, and when it wears out, you buy another one. Source: autoweek.com
