Toyota pulled the cover off their long awaited new 2016 Toyota Tacoma mid-size pickup truck this morning at the Detroit Auto Show . True to their teasers of the last several weeks, the iconic off-road sport truck legend returns with the essential... Toyota also said we should expect the new 2016 Tacoma to be tougher, smarter and more capable - ready to conquer new adventures - even with it being a bit lighter through the use of both high and ultra-high strength steel in the frame and body shell. The reveal this morning addressed power train, drive train, suspension, technology and convenience features only at a high level – absent specific detail that is necessary to more closely measure how the 2016 Tacoma lines up against their segment... There are five trim levels in the Tacoma line for 2016 – all with either 4x2 or 4x4 drive trains available on both the Double Cab (crew) and the Access Cab (extended) versions. As with the current Tundra , each grade will be purpose-focused starting with the SR Work truck and moving up to the SR5 Sport truck, a TRD Sport version, dirt stomping TRD Off-Road and the premium Limited.
