The storied engine manufacturer played a crucial role in bringing the 2016 Titan XD and its 5-liter turbo diesel V8 to life. Thanks to a close collaboration with Nissan's American division, the 5-liter turbo diesel V8 equipping the range-topping Titan XD is one of the most potent oil burners currently available in the light-duty pickup segment. Nissan product planning director for trucks Rich Miller comments on the motor: "This is not a direct replacement for a V8 gas engine or a V6 gas engine. With 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft (752 Nm) of twist channeled to the wheels via an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission, the Titan XD is thoroughly capable. According to Nissan and the SAE J2807 towing standard, the 2016 Titan XD light-duty pickup truck can tow up to 12,000 pounds (5,443 kilograms) and boasts a 2,000-pound (907 kilograms) payload rating.
