2015 GMC Canyon: Small upscale pickup grows bigger, better - Chron.com

Buyers looking for a mid-size pickup in the last few years had only the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier to choose from as newer models. The Canyon provides the classic, rugged GM pickup looks and some of the technology benefits seen in the full-sized GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado that were recently updated and are award-winning. It comes in extended cab and crew cab models, with 5- and 6-foot beds, and in three trims: the base SL starts at $20,995, while the fully-featured SLT Crew Cab 4 x 4 stickers near $40,000. The Canyon was last seen in 2012. Now GM has upgraded it... "All trims that look like metal are metal", says GM. The column shifter has been replaced with a console-mounted shifter with soft-touch materials, making the driving experience more about comfort and less about utility. It gets standard projector headlights with LED running lights. The SL model comes standard with 16-inch silver metallic aluminum wheels (a class exclusive), projector-type LED daytime running headlamps, cargo box and a chrome rear bumper. Stepping up to the SLE, you'll add fog lights, 17-inch blade silver metallic aluminum wheels, body-color door handles and mirrors, and the standard EZ Lift and Lower tailgate (optional on the SL).
