Nissan Motor Company has made the decision to pull the plug on the Nissan Xterra mid-size SUV following sub-par sales performance, even while the rest of the automaker’s lineup saw some impressive growth. In fact, Autoblog reports that while Nissan’s US sales increased 4. 6 percent to 792,642 units through July of this year, the Nissan Xterra sold just 8,114 units over that period, representing a drop of 25. 1 percent since the previous year. The current generation of the Nissan Xterra was introduced in 2005, when the SUV swelled from a compact to a mid-size SUV, and switched to the Frontier pickup ‘s then-new F-Alpha platform. Its most recent facelift was back in 2009. While rumors had circulated since early this year that 2015 would prove to be the last model year for the Nissan Xterra SUV, this is the first official confirmation issued by the automaker.
