Historian works to preserve heritage - Chaffee County Times

AGE 55 Wish I was 25 with the knowledge I have now. Garden, and read history, especially local history. POSITION Historic St. Elmo & Chalk Creek Canyon, Inc. president, Chaffee County Heritage Area Advisory Board Chair, Buena Vista Heritage Museum board member and served many years as president. NOTABLE I helped push for the purchase of the Turner Farm and helped with the restoration of the Buena Vista Depot. Also wrote the recently awarded mining survey grant for Historic St. Elmo and Chalk Creek Canyon. Always knew I wanted to do something with history. LAST 3 BOOKs READ “A Hole in the Ground with a Liar at the Top: Fraud and Deceit in the Golden Age of American Mining” by Dan Plazak, “The Winter Palace” by Eva Stachniak and “Cinderella Rockefeller” by Isabel Lincoln Elmer. LAST MOVIE SEEN Took my son and his friends to see “Iron Man III” at the Comanche Drive-In. FAVORITE FOOD Lamb is my absolute favorite. FAVORITE MUSIC I enjoy classical music, Fats Waller and older jazz and ‘50s and ‘60s music because of the jitterbug. Had to go to New Orleans to get a guy to dance the jitterbug with me. FAVORITE TOWN EVENT Currently, Apple Fest. Source: www.chaffeecountytimes.com
