The letter writer references a PO box that is my campaign’s address, but is unaware of the fact that I am a resident of Ironton – a fact listed on my campaign paperwork with the Secretary of State’s office. In the area I live, we all have PO boxes because we don’t get home delivery – and my PO box is different from the campaign PO box. The other point the letter writer may not have realized is that I sold my house in January because I make less than half the salary that I did before becoming a legislator. My old job – working with federal civilian employees at Air Force bases, Social Security offices and other federal installations – required me to travel nationally at least two weeks a month. I couldn’t perform both my job duties and the duties of your legislator being gone that much. I get my coffee every morning at a local coffee shop. When I do leave town, it’s to fight for things like reducing the funding gap between the richest and poorest schools, boosting the wages of the home care and nursing home workers taking care of our seniors and bringing back our tax dollars to fund... Letter was not accurate. It’s probably impossible to edit letters to the editor for accuracy, especially during the busy campaign season. Source: www.messagemedia.co
