The WACVA was incorporated May 11, 1951, as a veterans organization for women who served any length of time and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army, Army Reserves or Army National Guard and is the only female veterans association... Female veterans of other branches of service are also encouraged to become affiliate members of the organization, said Acquanetta Pullins, Chapter 94 first vice president. The chapter also was mentioned favorably in the WACVA national monthly publication, Channel, as the fastest-growing chapter in the U. S. , she added. WACVA is very active in the local community, volunteering with the Veterans Administration and local organizations, Pullins said. With the growing membership, the celebration dinner and social gave everyone a chance to introduce themselves and to honor the seven female Vietnam veterans in the chapter. Chapter president Jeanette Meza Ide served from 1956 to 1959, was out for a year, then served another year before getting married and receiving a discharge for pregnancy in 1962. “In those days, the Army didn’t have pregnancy clothes or pregnant...
