Man found dead in area common for desert shooting - KPHO Phoenix

Investigators are searching for answers after a man was murdered, his body found on the side of a road. The body of Horacio Macias-Jacquez, 37, was found north of Interstate 10 along the road near Miller Road and Salome Highway in an unincorporated part of Buckeye about 45 minutes west of Phoenix. Investigators with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are trying to determine if Macias-Jacquez died where his body was discovered. They said it is possible that the murder happened elsewhere, and the killer dumped his body. Somebody who was out in that desert area, which is a popular place for shooting, stumbled upon Macias-Jacquez's body. "It's always obviously a question for us whether the actual homicide happened somewhere else, or it happened at this location," MCSO Detective Joaquin Enriquez said. It is a black 2011 GMC Sierra, 3/4 ton, four-wheel drive pickup, which is a fairly large truck. "Homicide detectives are just looking at every angle, whether it happened there or not," Enriquez added. Waddell is about 30 minutes northwest of Phoenix, and a little less than 30 minutes northeast of where Macias-Jacquez's body was found.
