Certainly, the way that they were priced — and then excluded from incentives — killed any momentum and wasted all of GM’s investment. The $5 or $6K premium was hard to swallow based upon economic payback — and then excluding them from incentives made that $10 or $12K and killed them. The diesel Cruze never lived up to expectations of 10% of sales — it was priced against a Golf but the real market would be other Cruze buyers and the premium was too much to get them to move for the most part.
