The GMC Canyon entrenches itself atop the midsize pickup truck market - New York Daily News
The GMC Canyon entrenches itself atop the midsize pickup truck market After years of neglect, automakers are turning their attention back to smaller-scale pickup trucks. The GMC Canyon, along with its mechanical twin, the Chevrolet Colorado, has elbowed competitors like the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier to the side in this ongoing and escalating battle for midsize pickup supremacy. From behind the wheel of the 2015 GMC Canyon, as it rumbles effortlessly through messy winter weather, all of these attributes spring to mind. The large front grille’s three chrome bars and centrally located GMC badge is nicely complimented by rectangular-shaped headlights, fog lights in black surrounds, and a metal insert in the lower half of the grille opening. The 17-inch alloy wheels appear larger than they are, thanks partly to the beefy-looking fender bulges that add a sense of power and ruggedness to the flanks of the Canyon. A slight kick upward of the side glass, in the rear doors of the crew cab, gives the truck sleeker profile that, in my opinion, looks extremely nice when coupled to the shorter 5’2” cargo box of my tester.
