Jamie Frere, 43, of Canandaigua, was charged with speed not reasonable and prudent, reckless driving, making an unsafe lane change and crossing hazardous road markings, Troop T Public Information Officer David Howard said. The accident occurred about 2:30 p. m. The driver’s 2004 Ford F-350 truck approached the Exit 47 toll booths at a speed estimated at 55-to-60 mph, Howard said. Frere told police the trailer started to fishtail as he approached the toll booth. The pickup knocked down a light standard, went airborne and crashed into a concrete buffer at Exit Lane 3. The force of the impact bent one of the heavy steel beams that support the toll booth roof. The truck continued another 300 feet past the toll booth and came to rest upside down. Lanes to get on and off the Thruway at Exit 47 were closed for a time because of the crash.
