The Elantra compact moved up from 17th place in May to 10th place in June. And that wasn't the only big month-over-month change. It went from 11th place to 18th. In April, it had been seventh. While there was no immediate easy explanation for the changes, auto sales can vary month to month not only by customer demand, but also by whether automakers are willing to offer discounts or are selling large lots of vehicles into rental car or... General Motors, for instance, said that last month it sharply cut back its rental-car sales. For the most part, June marked a month of subtle changes. GMC's Sierra pickup truck worked its way back on to the Top 20 list, at 20th place. Its not a terrible surprise since it's been there before, pickup trucks are hot sellers and GM's other full-size pickup, Chevrolet Silverado, always comes in second behind Ford F-Series as the nation's most popular vehicle.
