2015 Ford F-150 Sport Mode Adds To Aluminum Truck's Performance - Four Wheeler Network
The Engineers at Ford are taking advantage of the weight savings the aluminum 2015 Ford F-150 offers with the addition of Sport Mode. Since the development of the Mustang and the 2015 F-150 shared a similar time line, engineers often drove both vehicles during development leaving them wondering if Sport Mode could be adapted to the F-150. Ford Transmission Calibration Engineer... Once the truck is in Sport Mode the frequency of gearshifts changes allowing the truck to stay in the “Sweet Spot” by holding lower gears longer that make driving more spirited with seat-of-the-pants acceleration and less upshifting. When combined with the changes in the six-speed transmission, Ford says Sport Mode feels similar to what an aftermarket programmer might add while still keeping the factory warranty. Sport Mode comes standard on every 2015 engine and can be engaged in 2WD, 4WD auto and 4WD high giving every driving enthusiast an improvement in acceleration and performance on- and –off-road.
