Unrestrained man killed in overnight crash - Monroe News Star

A man from West Monroe died late Tuesday after losing control of his vehicle in Ouachita Parish. Shortly before 7:30 p. m. Tuesday, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 546 just south of Interstate 20. This crash took the life of 22-year-old Jacob Jones of West Monroe. The preliminary investigation by State Police revealed Jones was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 west on LA 546. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and the driver overcorrected. Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be restrained in all seating positions, day and night. Wearing a seat belt on every trip, whether it’s short or long, is the most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 31 fatal crashes resulting in 33 deaths. Source: www.thenewsstar.com
