aero was delighted to be invited by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to the ceremony of Xiamen Airlines’ inaugural non-stop flight leaving from Xiamen on 26 July at 23:50 and arriving in the Dutch capital the following morning. This was a historic day for Xiamen Airlines, with this flight being its first service to Europe and therefore its first long-haul destination, with flights to Sydney launching later this year. Late on Sunday night, the airline inaugurated the 9,313-kilometre sector with one of its 787-8s, of which the airline currently has six. aero in Amsterdam, Leo Hu, VP of International Cooperation, Government and Alliance Affairs for Xiamen Airlines said: “The 787-8 is great for initiating services on new routes to test markets.
