Car lovers turn out for Garden City Autos for Autism - Hometownlife.com

Car lovers brought their vehicles to display while helping raise money for the Burger-Baylor Center for Autistic Students. The show annually features original, classic, custom and restored cars, street rods, street machines, sports and motorcycles, vying for awards in a variety of categories. Assorted clowns were also there like Smiggins, played by Burger-Baylor teaching assistant Sherry Chrysler. In 2000, a small group of parents had an idea to hold a custom car show to raise money for the Burger Center for Students with Autism. Last year, the show raised about $13,000. It’s anticipated that this year’s event will raise close to that figure. The autistic program relies a lot on its own funding for special programs. The money goes toward activities held throughout the year like field trips and outings. Source: www.hometownlife.com
