Cars and Stars invades Graham - Graham Leader
Though the fifth annual Potter's Pizza Cars and Stars show on the Square saw less-than-expected registration due to threatening weather, organizers, participants and attendees said the event lived up to its growing reputation. Entrants began piling in to the Graham Square early Saturday morning, April 11, and judging began at noon. Event organizer Branden Cornelius said that there were about 150 cars registered for this year's show, and that, combined with a dense, auto-centric itinerary, made this year's Potter's Pizza Cars and Stars one to remember. From the west side of the Square Saturday morning, Cornelius made sure to mention both performing bands, the Dynaflows and the Octanes, both of which performed prior to the 3 p. m. awards ceremony. Drew Hays, bassist for the Austin based rock band The Octanes, the second band to perform in front of the Young County Courthouse Saturday, said that this year marked the band's third to play Cars and Stars. Following the judging and award portion of the show, a long procession of cars embarked on a cruise that toured Young County up to Newcastle and then headed back to Graham, where participants and attendees made camp at the Graham Drive In for an... Mike Winslow was on the Square Saturday with his purple Datsun 280zx that he said his son won in a raffle. Winslow said he's keeping the highly-modified car while his son is in England and that so far it's been in several car shows and several races. Source: www.grahamleader.com
