MAPLETON, Maine — Two men were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Mapleton on Monday evening, according to Maine State Police. Peter Haskell, 66, of Burlington, Vermont, was traveling east on Route 163 at about 3 p. m. when his 2005 Volvo station wagon drifted across the centerline, Lt. Brian Harris said in a press release issued late Monday evening. At the same time, Robert Stepnowski, 64, of Winterville was traveling westbound and attempted to avoid Haskell but could not steer his 2014 Dodge Ram pickup out of the way in time, and the two vehicles struck head on, according to Harris.
