BMW brought us to the Napa Valley to sample the new 4-Series Gran Coupe for ourselves. About two years ago, BMW did a reshuffling of their naming conventions to separate coupes and their evens- away from sedans and their odd numbers. That was until the brand from Bavaria brought out the first in the GC lineup, namely the 6 Gran Coupe. The 4 Gran Coupe is a four-door sedan version of the like-named 4-Series Coupe. First in that lineup is the 428i Gran Coupe, which includes the 240-horsepower 2. 0-liter TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 lb-ft of torque between 1,250 and 4,800 rpm. The 435i Gran Coupe is next, with a 3. 0-liter, 300-horsepower inline 6-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged mill that makes 300 lb-ft of torque between1,200 and 5,000 rpm. The brand says the 428i can achieve 0-60 in 5. 7-seconds, with a BMW-estimated (non-EPA) fuel rating of 23 city / 35 highway with 27 combined, while the larger 435i can go from 0-60 in 4. 9-seconds, with a fuel range of 22 city / 32 highway, with...
