Polestar, Volvo's official racing team and hot rod shop, has been campaigning Volvos in the Swedish touring car championship since the days of the 850 and in 2009, became Volvo's official performance tuner with its 'optimisation program' for the... That same year it produced a one-off, 335kW Polestar C30 as a way to celebrate its success in the Swedish touring car championship. Then, with a switch to S60 silhouette-type racers in 2012, Polestar rolled out another road car concept in the 378kW S60. A year later, Polestar developed that concept into its first series production model with the S60 released in the Australian... And a few years further down the track, the S60 Polestar is here, but in strictly limited numbers. Polestar describe this as an "engineered" S60 model, rather than merely "optimised" like the R-Design variants we've tested previously. To start with, there's more Swedish sizzle from the six-cylinder, and with Volvo's new four-cylinder mandate, this is the last of the "big bangers". The charged air flows through new Polestar specific plumbing, including a better intercooler, to raise the power up to 258kW and 500Nm made from 3000-4750rpm. Source: www.stuff.co.nz
