If a half-ton truck could be a luxury vehicle, the 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie may be that truck. The 2013 redesign added aerodynamic efficiencies: a lower air dam, active grille shutters to manage air intake, and air suspension that lowers the truck at highway speeds. The comination in the 2013 Ram 1500 earned Motor Trend’s 2013 Truck of the Year honors and top of the class in fuel economy at 17 city/ 25 highway. For 2014, Ram has added a diesel option that improves torque, towing capacity and fuel efficiency. Put all this in the top-of-the-line Laramie, and the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is a truck full of contradictions. The 2014 Ram 1500 is available in nine trims, from the entry level Tradesman starting at $24,200 to the Laramie level, which starts at $39,925. Make it a 4x4 crew cab with a 5-foot-7-inch box like my model, and it will start at $44,925....
