2016 Buick LaCrosse Spied Again - Automobile

The next generation of the Buick LaCrosse is set to debut for the 2016 model year, and our spy photographers caught yet another prototype of this large sedan testing. With less camouflage than previous prototypes we’ve spied , these new photos show more about the new LaCrosse’s more upscale styling that adopts a more dramatic, luxurious look. The sloping, fastback-like profile reminds us a bit of the Audi A7, and the short rear trunklid makes for a more tapered rear overhang that helps the new Buick look tauter and more athletic than its predecessor. The 2016 Buick LaCrosse’s move upscale seems to be a strategic one for Buick, allowing the company to create some distance between the midsize Regal and full-size LaCrosse models. We expect the new LaCrosse to continue offering GM’s 3. 6-liter V-6 engine with either front- or all-wheel drive, though the four-cylinder e-Assist mild hybrid powertrain may disappear from the lineup with this new, more upscale model. Though the 2016 Buick LaCrosse may hold the flagship spot in Buick’s lineup for now, we’re still holding out hope that a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan may make it to production.
