Car plows into front of Victoria house - Victoria Advocate

Officer Philip Garcia with the Victoria Police Department said the driver of a 2010 gold Chrysler 300, Walter Barefield, 65, was traveling south on Wayside Drive when he “more than likely” ran a stop sign and struck a 2003 blue Ford Focus... After the Chrysler hit the second vehicle, it continued straight, plowing into a home at 1105 S. Laurent Street. “When I looked out my window and saw that car, boy, I just started running,” said neighbor John Barela, who lives to the right of the home. After going inside to check on resident Olivia Miller, 95, and her caretaker, Rosemary Garcia, Barela said he told the driver of the Chrysler to shut off his car because it was leaking fluid. Barela, who has known Miller for 12 years, said, “They usually sit right there in the living room,” where the house was penetrated, “but thank God they were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast this morning. “I thought it was somebody who had a wreck out there, so I got up and was going to go look out the living room window, when all of a sudden the car came straight in,” said Garcia.
