A 40-year-old Milwaukee man hit by an SUV while crossing the street was in serious but stable condition, West Milwaukee police said. About 9:45 p. m. Wednesday, a white SUV — likely a GMC Envoy or a similar model — drove off after striking the man near W. Orchard St. and S. 43rd St. Witnesses were not able to get a license plate number, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call (414) 645-2151.
