FINE EATIN': Jib Bop a serious upgrade on University Avenue - Clarksville Leaf Chronicle
The dining scene on University Avenue – and in Clarksville – has received a serious upgrade in the form of a new Korean Restaurant just a short walk from Austin Peay State University. And we have Hankook Tire to thank in part for the arrival of Jib Bop, which will turn a lot of heads in the direction of appreciating the best of what Korea has to offer. Owner David Kim came here to fill a niche he knew would be occupied by Hankook’s Korean executives and workers, but that niche is ready to be filled as well by other Clarksvillians familiar with and appreciative of Korean cuisine. For any military folks who’ve tried some of the high-end restaurants in Seoul and elsewhere while stationed in Korea, it will come as no surprise that Korean food stacks up with the best that China has to offer. In fact, many of the chefs at America’s best Chinese restaurants were trained in Seoul, not in China. But Korean food has not had nearly the attention that Chinese cuisine has received in the last few decades, and that’s a shame, because just as Chinese food is much more than Chop Suey, Korean food is much more than just Bulgogi, Kimchi and Yaki... ” Padula suggested we break for dinner at a new Korean place he assured me was well worth the time and money.
