Driver, Motorcyclist Identified In Flanders Accident - 27east.com
A Westhampton resident was charged with failing to yield, a violation, after she struck a motorcyclist Friday afternoon on County Road 104 in Flanders, sending the man to the hospital. Southampton Town Police identified the driver of the car, a 1999 Honda Civic, as 29-year-old Jamie Espana and the motorcyclist as 68-year-old Malcom Smith. Espana hit Mr. Smith, who was riding his 2003 Harley Davidson north on County Road 104, as she attempted to make a left turn from the southbound lane. A Flanders-Northampton Ambulance arrived on the scene to treat Mr. Smith, who was ultimately taken by medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hosptial. A motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday afternoon after he was hit by a 1999 Honda Civic on County Road 104 in Flanders at around noon, according to Southampton Town Police. The driver of the Civic, whom police did not immediately name, hit the motorcyclist while making a left turn and was issued a summons to appear in court for failing to yield the right away, according to Sergeant Michael Burns of Southampton Town...
