Driver, Motorcyclist Identified In Flanders Accident - 27east.com

A Westhampton resident was charged with failing to yield, a violation, after she struck a motorcyclist Friday afternoon on County Road 104 in Flanders, sending the man to the hospital. Southampton Town Police identified the driver of the car, a 1999 Honda Civic, as 29-year-old Jamie Espana and the motorcyclist as 68-year-old Malcom Smith. Espana hit Mr. Smith, who was riding his 2003 Harley Davidson north on County Road 104, as she attempted to make a left turn from the southbound lane. A Flanders-Northampton Ambulance arrived on the scene to treat Mr. Smith, who was ultimately taken by medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hosptial. A motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday afternoon after he was hit by a 1999 Honda Civic on County Road 104 in Flanders at around noon, according to Southampton Town Police.
